Well, if the Tohatsu 3.5 hp outboard planes the boat with one person aboard, but just barely, it is no surprise that the 1,000 watt Torquedo motor- 1.34 hp doesn't. Can't understand how someone thought it would.

From the video it looked like half power on the Torquedo would do the job at moderate speed. That would probably require 500 watts or one hour of battery life from the standard battery. That would be good enough for most cruisers to get back and forth to shore if it were a mile or so from the boat.

I like the trolling motor with a moderate size battery better. Much cheaper, but heavier.
