I generally backwind the jib to speed the tack up, but have never has a problem tacking even in very light air. Of course she tacks MUCH more slowly than a fin keel boat. Under power she handles fine except in reverse where she more or less goes where she wants. I can turn the boat in about 1.5 times its length under power simply by turning the wheel. If I want to get fancy, I can turn it in its own length by backing and filling.
