An EMP could potentially knock out a large section of infrastructure. When you consider that almost everything today has a computer chip in it, the cost could be huge and very disruptive to our economy and way of life. Cars and trucks wouldn't run, without computers they wouldn't know where to go, traffic lights would not operate, and electronic Communications would be nonexistent.(nl)As an IT guy one thing that disturbs me is that there is no Plan B for the Internet. Every corporate DR plan relies on electronic data and voice communications, and businesses ditched "plain old telephone" a long time ago. Everyone uses VOIP now and/or sophisticated computer switched networks.
