Re: Celestial navigation & Loran

I've been reading "The Last Navigator" by Steve Thomas so I have all the star information and other stuff that Pacific Islanders used. Of course, it's only good for the Caroline Islands and vicinity, but to get there all I'd have to do is find my latitude using Polaris and sail down it until I get there -- assuming there's nothing hard to bump into along the way. I could use the passage time to brush up on star identifications.
First, tho, I'd need a boat, preferably on the Wast Coast . . .
