First, I think from your post, the statement's phrasing is pretty awkward, clumsy, regrettable. I think that the quoted statement does nothing helpful to protect or further the Marlow-Hunter interests. Even if they don't have the answer to a question OR if they have some implied warranty exposure OR whatever. Writing something like that seems dumb.
However, you mention "changes" made by the previous owner? Was there some change to the hull, thrust block, or what? I think it would helpful to understand the context and see what stimulated that statement. What preceded it.
