I want 3 things I haven't seen in the commercial dinghy light mast mounts:

1) cheap looking. (For theft resistance.) I want to be able to leave these at a dinghy dock and not have someone think they're attractive enough to swipe. If they like them I'd rather have them think "hey that's a good idea I can make that easily myself".

2) Lightweight inexpensive and easy to replace. If it does get lost overboard or stolen.

3) Quick detach with one or two spin off components. If it involves a nut or screw it must be a common hardware store item, not some specialty fitting I can only get from the mast light maker. I want to be able to just detach the light itself (it should take almost no room in a backpack) and leave the mast in the boat.
