Blye, have you ever been given any grief by a harbor patrol? I had my light mounted exactly like yours when one night I was stopped by the Dana Point Harbor Patrol because they said that they couldn't see the light because I was sitting in front of it. I told them that it had been alright for 10 years and in every harbor that I had sailed into in 18 countries including other harbors in the U.S. I told them that maybe they should consider weather they had the problem instead of my light. They made me take a Breathalyzer Test and when I passed it, barely, they let us both go. I never had another problem. Finely, sadly, my engine died but I kept the rectifier in my spare parts for my next Yamaha. I was offered an almost brand new 8Hp Nissan for next to nothing by my neighbor that I couldn't pass up so now the rectifier sits in wait until I ware it out. I bumped it up to a 9.8 by replacing the jets and it's lighter so I'm in no hurry to change but the poor thing is looking pretty sad. Four years in Mexico proceeded by six seasons at the dinghy dock in Catalina has taken it's toll so a Yamaha is on the horizon again. My 15 Yamaha took some serious hit in it's life but kept on going until I participated in killing it. I always mixed my own fuel but one day I went to the fuel dock and because I dearly needed to use the head I instructed the attendant to fill up the tank with pre-mix and rushed off up the ramp. When I returned the tank was full and off I went only to find out he had put in raw gas instead of the pre-mix. The engine seized up an hour later. Boy, was I mad but I couldn't prove anything so I took it as a lesson and moved on. I just hope the new ones are half as good as the old ones. I hope to wait until I get to somewhere where they sell the Endro model because that was the best engine I ever owned.
