One thing you may want to consider is the ability to fold the support pole down out of the way. Many dinghy docks are extremely crowded and 3 dinghys deep from the dock. It is very typical for approaching dinghys to grab on to whatever is grabable to "assist" them in sliding in closer to the dock. I often find my oars hanging in the water as a result of people grabbing onto to whatever is reachable. It is also typical from people to have to climb over/through a few dinghys to reach the dock. If you leave a nice pole sticking up, they will grab it - the result is that it breaks off and drops in the water and you thinking someone stole it. Just something to think about.
