This the front end of my transmission, a Borg Warner 71C Velvet drive. Last season it leaked badly and I had to replace the front seal. It is connected to a Perkins 4-108 that while a bit long in the tooth is running great. The first challenge was figuring out a way to support the back end of the engine as the rear mounts are attached to the transmission. That metal rod you see in the right side of the picture was my solution. The bracket that holds the oil filter was the support for the rod, I drilled a hole in a piece of scrap aluminum, a sturdy piece of oak up top some 5/8" SS nuts and we had a solution.
It has been nasty working down there, but I think we have solved the problem.
