Like old chrome. Most of the boats hardware was done that way and has since lost most of it's luster. This is in a little better shape because it's usually under a cover.
I hoped to just clean it up but after soaking all the parts in solvent, I found the cables had a few broken strands. On closer inspection, I found a few more. So I've torn the binnacle down and pulled the cables to take to a rigger. 2 steps back...
I've cleaned up the teak donut and put the second and final coat of epoxy on it. That will get painted.
