Playing around with the AIS I realized there was another Menu I had to access, then another sub-menu where it allows me to place a DCS call. Interestingly, it is working on the 4800 baud. I don't know whether I should change to 38,400 but I'm inclined to leave well enough alone as long as this works.

My wife is looking forward to our next opportunity to call a ship. She seems to be the one who does most of the calling.
