Sorry I have been out of the loop without internet lately. On the question of capacitor or motor cleat that cord has a hot and neutral so they cancel the field. If you strip out the outer jacket and spin the hot wire around one cleat and the neutral around a brass fid... turn on loads on the boat and watch the fun!
