Stuck in my mind that 3.1 miles must be too small. When we installed the Loran-C stations back in ought-73 and 74 the antenna was a square grid about 1000 ft / side to make a half-wave at 500 kHz. High tech at the time but I am trying to recall if the transmitters were powered by steam or direct coal firing. ;o)
