Will fill enough to keep them from righting. Don't know if that was the case here.

I think if that if had a hull breach, when 10' tide came in (I'm in Camden now, there was about an 11' tide last night), then the boat would have simply sunk straight down. It' looks like its' "swamped", as they say in Louisiana.

I don't think the issue was the chart or the can -- I believe it's just "pilot error". (Having committed a few myself, without disaster.)
