I once mistook a buoy marking a wreck for a mooring ball (it looked like a ball), sailed near it....
In Response To: All aids to navigation were in place when we passed through there less than 2 weeks ago. ()
and promptly wiped out my rudder on an immovable object. Didn't damage the hull, but did need a new rudder.
