In June we had the bottom cleaned and the diver found a gap in the fairing running vertically 1/2" wide 1/2" deep and 16" long. It starts in front of the keel on the underside of the hull and ends on the front of the keel. Tappan Zee does not have a bolt on keel and we had the hull sanded down to gel coat and then faired, barrier coated 4 coats and hard bottom paint. My feeling is a failure of the fairing. The divers closed the gap with splash zone. No collisions or groundings. I am planning on grinding out the spash zone mixing up west system thickened with silica and filling. Sand, barrier coat and bottom paint. Ideas or advice welcome. Tappan Zee is on the hard in San Carlos Mexico.
