The boards are actually structurally sound, no signs of delamination at all. I'm not sure of the age but it has seen very little use. Mostly the annual dinghy poker run and some puttering around the basin. It has spent most of its life stored away out of the sun and weather.

I don't think a coat of paint is what our friend had in mind so I'm going to ponder this a little while longer before doing anything.
