Only the rich kids had Atari. Hell, we didn't even have cable. We were lucky if we could get decent reception on three TV stations with rabbit ear antennae. In black and white. You knew you had arrived when you got a color TV and roof antenna that you could rotate using the remote rotor in the living room.

And when we got into trouble in school, or got bad grades, our parents didn't come to school to demand an apology or different grade! They GROUNDED us with NO TV till we shaped up! It really sucked, not being able to watch those three channels. ;)
