... in 8th grade I had a crush on a girl who had 0099 in her number. No such thing as call-waiting or voice mail. When her line was busy I'd call and call till I got through. Had one of those steel dials (it was from before they were made from plastic). After a while I developed a very strong (and tough) dialing finger.

Who remembers those pencils and pens (they came with message pads) that had a little metal ball on the end for dialing? Something like this...
