Yes, you can change the com port but I could not find the option to make SeaClear 'listen' to the USB port. My PC had no com port and the GPS only sent data on the serial cable. So I had to get a com port to USB port converter ($15) and create a 'virtual com port' from the instructions on the converter CD. Then it worked fine.
