now i just need to know what to fill it with. i've heard mineral oil.

anybody have any ideas what kind of fluid to fill a compass with - please don't say 'compass oil'?

this little handbearing compass has been with me almost since i started sailing and i would hate to part with it. i noticed that new weems and plath handbearing compasses are over $150.
