Great Stirrup was manned in '74 & '75 but shortly after, automated. The keeper was very friendly and liked our Scotch. There was a NASA tracking station nearby in the good old days but the two PanAm guys stationed there were NO fun at all.
Since automation the little house was abandoned and the ground arond the light tower i littered with dead solar panels.
