My Nine Year Old Daughter just received the results of her standardized tests.
At the beginning of this year her score was 948
Halfway through the year, it is 1231, a 29.8% increase. (The largest increase in her class)
At the end of last year, she was in the 93rd percentile in Math, 97th percentile in Reading nationally. Can't wait to see what rank she is this year.
Locally, the school board was considering significantly altering the content of the Magnet program she attends. My daughter wrote a letter to the School superintendent and got her class to sign it. She sent a copy to the paper, which got published. It resulted in her meeting with the superintendent of schools.
In the process of that conversation, the superintendent asked my daughter the name of her favorite book? Her answer, "When I was 7 I read 'The Horse Whisperer' for the first time. That's my favorite."
The sight of the visible jaw drop on the superintendent was priceless. An announcement was made yesterday, the Magnet program will remain untouched next year...
That's my baby girl!
