Young families are different today than they were a generation or two ago. Outdoor family activities are quickly being replaced with after school sports and video games. Add to that the economy being what it is and the lack of discretionary spending, and you have boatless families.

Most, if not all of the members of our sailing center last year were middle aged and older. I'll have to make a mental note to see how many members we have this year under the age of 40.

Yeah, this isn't good for the boating industry and sailing message boards, for sure.
