Splitter in Real World use
In Response To: Sharing VHF whip with AIS ()

I too added the splitter. I put it down line by the AIS unit and the computer that displays the data. The splitter works fine when the VHF is on Hi Power. I get a buzz when the VHF is on low power and my VHF signal doesn't get out! The splitter seems to prefer sending the AIS data to the com port so I don't find any issues with the AIS and the splitter. I wrote Milltec about the situation and the first response I received asked if I was hearing the relay. After I responded that the relay wouldn't completely make contact on low power and was bouncing "sounding like a buzz" and my signal wasn't getting out I never heard back from them. So far I've lived with it and love the AIS. Offshore it makes transiting any shipping a breeze. It looks llke I can through something on a ship at night and the chart software say's I'm a mile away.
