Hey Larry,
...Only time I try the sprit is when I'm trying to project it beyond the shadow of the main, and that occurs pretty rarely in my experience... I should have been flying it from the pole, but I was too lazy, though I probably would have made the effort if I'd thought I was going to be able to carry it for as long as I did...
BTW, never had the chance to follow up on a couple of your older posts... you asked if I'd ever tried wearing goggles to combat extreme conditions, can't say as I ever have. I think that would probably be a good time to heave-to, anyway.... (grin) One thing I do have, however, which might prove useful in such a situation - particularly since I usually wear glasses - is a dive mask with prescription lenses... I've tried them in tamer conditions, and would seem to be the way to go in anything up to a hurricane...
Also, thanks for the heads-up about the innards of my Wirie wifi antenna... yeah, I figured it was probably something like that, fortunately I purchased mine when they were just getting started on eBay, and paid less than the current price... It IS housed in a very nice Pelican case, however... (grin) Main thing is, however, and the point I was making to John, is that I have found its performance FAR superior to the Wave RV I'd been using before, I'm very happy with it after my trip this winter...
best regards,
Jon
