Back when "barrier coat" first came into the lexicon of gelcoat....

I saw boats that had used "barrier" coats and the early ones, at least, failed almost every time vis a' vis the bubbles in the gelcoat. I'm sure they're better now and would very likely make a great primer for the lead. I seem to recall I sanded the lead all over before I painted. I'm pretty sure I primed but details are foggy from 1979.
