Multiple tethers-- great idea!

Hi Jon- I've told the story many times about your imaginary friend who whispers in your ear, when you are in a situation that warrants caution: "This is dangerous, asshole!" Common sense trumps all the safety gear in the world.

I like your hybrid approach. Dual length tethers can give you some of the same benefits. I use the short tether on the high lifeline and the long one around a second point to help me stay snugged up to the mast when working there is rowdy conditions. Of course, the rest of the time, the droopy long tether snags on things. Hey, nothing's perfect. Haven't had much need for any of this for way too long, however. At least we'll be chartering out of Roadtown for a week starting Wednesday.
