he told me that the motor they use (and apparently have always used) is a 24 volt bosch windshield wiper motor. says that using a 24 volt motor at 12 volts produces more torque, and that's why the cpt is so powerful.

they're knowledgeable people to talk to and will work directly with you if you have problems. i never dealt with scanmar when they owned the cpt autopilot but i heard that the service guy was not 'customer oriented'.
