I'd suggest you use a snubber attached to the waterline bobstay fitting, if you aren't already doing so. A piece of PVC probably wouldn't last long with chain if your boat sails around much at anchor. About 30' line shackled to the bobstay fitting and tied to your chain with a rolling hitch cuts down on the sailing at anchor and there is no chafe to worry about.
