Wind generators in high winds

We have a KISS.
We can stop it with the switch provided with the system, IF the wind is under about 25 knots. Above that, it puts our about 30 amps, but shortly overheats and then the thermistors in the winding kick out to avoid burning up.
In this state, the blades SCREAM, but come to no harm. We beat into 40 knots for 20 hours once like this, till we shut it up by pulling it off the wind, CAREFULLY by the retaining line.

Today, when the wind is over about 20 knots we pull it 30 degrees or so out of alignment with the wind and it runs happily at 15-20 amps. We can stop it anytime with the switch.

If leaving the boat for several days, switch off. Even in 40 knots it stays almost stopped, becasue the windings have not had the chance to heat up.
