... on this one. But, I do this on my Yanmar diesel engine, on my boat, not on my lawn mower. If Don Casey does it, and I think he's a boat guy and not a lawn mower guy, it's generally good enough for me. I've done this for years and years, I don't have dust, I'm sure I'm getting max charge, and I've not seen any sign of damage. I use good Gates belts and change my belts every 500 hours regardless. I don't know many mechanics who carry or use gauges, they all tell me they "twist" the belt to get to a feel they think is correct, hardly precise as a gauge.

IMO, the gauge is a waste of money & time.
