The builder did a IMHO poor job on the motor well and cockpit framing, the main hatch, and the skegs are not to spec. So I've removed all the cockpit framing and well and will take off the skegs tomorrow morning. Getting the boat right next to the shop door is a good thing. Today a friend and I rabbetted the motor well cutout aft and the transom face to accept new wood I'll be lamming in eventually. The new motor place will be a 1 1/2" thick cut down transom like most smaller fish boats you see.
The motor well had only a 10" clamp face which was tooooooooo low to the water. The cockpit framing he'd rushed and used poor lumber and resorcinol glue. As you know that glue does not "gap fill" and was barely attached expect at the screw points and then not even very well there.
Being a doityurselfer ain't all it's cracked up to be though.....
