We use something similar and you clean it under running water with some waterproof sanding screen that is included with the filter, also included with the filter is a fixed plastic caliper that lets you know when too much of the filter has been sanded away.

Have not measured the flow. It is slow, and gets slower as the filter gets clogged. Not a problem for a glass of water (maybe 5-7 seconds), but a pain to fill up a pot.
