If you have an inverter can't you get a

120 volt AC high torque electric 1/2 in or 3/4 inch drive drill? For that matter, you could get a cheep torque multiplier to give what ever drill you buy even more (and/or faster) foot pounds. I can see no reason why it wouldn't work. I had an MD3 Volvo back in the 80's that could have been hand cranked but the thing was put in backwards with a V-drive so I had the same issue. I just lived with it but thought about the problem on several occasions.
