Just kidding. My old boat has near countless hinges, finger latches, port screws and brackets, and a few old door knobs I want to preserve. I keep one of those tiny 3M motor oil cans on a shelf inside a hanging locker. I'm often pulling it out to squirt a tight port hinge or squeaking hinge. The last can lasted about 8 years. I'm too lazy to tape the hinges for varnishing but the oil keeps them swinging freely and should keep them around forever.
What kind of boat are you varnishing?
