I was in La Paz with a friend last season and

while we were on the way over from Mazatlan he lost a belt. He replaced it and by the time we reached the marina in Pa Paz the new belt was about shot. He asked me to replaced it again (to see if a different approached would help) and while doing so I noticed that the throw on the adjustment for the alternator was at it's total limit. You couldn't see it because the alternator adjustment bolt and tab were in the way. It felt like the belt was tight and indeed it was but not tight enough. It felt like you were getting the right pressure on the alternator belt by using a lever but in fact you were up against the end of the adjustment. We replaced it with a slightly shorter belt and solved the issue. Besides looking at that you might want to get a different head into the game. Good luck
