Flying and sailing

It seems to me that the location requirements come down to easy access by air/ferry and nice sailing nearby. To my mind the latter rules Nassau out. The choices in the Bahamas are then in the Abacos with flights into Marsh Harbour or Treasure Cay and in the Exumas with flights into Georgetown.

Pouring money into a slip is less attractive to me than a capital cost for hardware on the boat and staying on a mooring ball. The moorings in Hopetown have a good reputation. I don't know much about the ones in Marsh Harbour itself - I anchor in there. The moorings at Stocking Island in the Exumas are mushrooms I believe. Screw-type moorings don't seem to have caught on down there.

I'd put the biggest solar panel that would reasonably fit aboard, a good MPPT controller, and a good battery monitor and see what happens.

+1 on Explorer Charts and Steve Dodge.
