anchor dragged once this past season
In Response To: anchor dragging ()

There was a windshift (from the SW to the N) but that's not why the anchor dragged, I think. Rather, it was
the sudden increase in wind to between 50-60 knots! (Damn, that was crazy!) It happened in a
t-storm. The first wave came through and the wind shifted to the N with at least 40 knots. The anchor
held. But, the next round (about 30 minutes later) was toomuch for the ground tackle. It was NASTY! All of this
happened in Sebasco (not Sebasco Estates to the South, but the small fishing village to the N with an anchorage between
Bear and Malaga Islands). Very protected - except from the North (which is where the wind was coming from - of
course). There's much more to this story! Except for a ripped genoa (which unfurled while all of this was going on!)
which had to be repaired and a sheet which has to be replaced (which came off of the genoa and fouled
the prop and stopped the engine!!!), "Kama' came through this unscathed. But, we were very lucky.
