As Dave pointed out... while I won't get the full R-50... I will improve my system somewhat by both improving the insulation and by making the box smaller.
If the whole galley required rework, I would consider removing the counter and going "whole hog" on the icebox insulation. In that case, I'd probably still go with the vacuum panels, and then fill in with foam... which in total, would probably make a wonderful large box.
But I'll compromise and just line the inside of what I have now... and take out the 3/8 - 1/2 inch of "padding" that is inside the box and replace it with 1 inch vacuum panels.
I'll follow up and have the Adler Barber unit serviced... at least "topped off."
Maybe then I can get to a decent duty cycle.
