The unit in the photo is an old Norcold unit. I got it at a very low cost, it was new but the case was banged up. I built it into our boat. See the install at: http://www.svguenevere.com/prep/proj/freezer/

The old Norcold uses about 4 Ah. The new Engle units use “Variable from 0.5 to 2.5 AMPS Maximum” as quoted from the Engle web site. And I have one and it did test out that was the actual draw!

That lower draw is also a great reason to use the shelf and unit. After a few years, when they come out with a lot lower power usage, it's easy to replace without the work!
