But yesterday I was single handing... and all I could do was exercise caution. The thing that "gets me" is that they just drift about aimlessly and tend to congregate in areas where the passage is already narrow... such as in at the mouth of the yacht basin.
The other issue is that they suddenly "take off" and think they are faster than they really are... and I close fast, even at 2.2 kts.
So far, I have managed to avoid them... but perhaps a blast of the air horn might wake a few of these novice "boaters" up... at least give them a fright or two.
Last night as I returned to the slip, my neighbor had left his kayaks out in the fairway... sort of just "capped" the day. I gave a holler down the fairway and they quickly hauled them out of the way. Good thing, as my full keel doesn't exactly spin on dime. I put the boat away perfectly as he watched... which of course was a nice way to finish the day.
