Cruising Sailors Forum Archive

A couple of weeks ago I stopped in Dana Point

on the way back from Catalina and stayed at anchor for a few days and had a chance to really watch some of these fools. "There is a choke point" close to where we were anchored and we could see this sailboat trying to avoid the girl on a paddle board but had no wiggle room at all. The sailboat was trying to round the corner as close to the seawall as she could be but was being pushed right into it. Finely she girl driving the sailboat had no more room and but the paddle boarder just kept coming until she ran into the side of the boat, fell off and started screaming. The boyfriend, who was on his own paddle board, got his knickers all in a twist and started yelling at the skipper saying that he was going the "kick her husbands ass". It was all so typical. The husband, who was down below, came up and started doing the "RCA dog look" wondering what the hell just happened. Finely he just told the paddle boarding boyfriend to "go pound salt" and with the single digit salute, took the helm and proceeded to almost keel haul the girl who was still in the water. Last I saw was the sailboat heading down the channel with the husband just shaking his head.
