I've been in the bay on the right as you go in the inlet with a 5' 6" draft without problems. The channel was marked with local day marks that were in poor shape but OK. This was last year. The chart shows good water if you turn right to pass the island - THE CHART IS WRONG!!! The channel runs straight.
Sandy Hook anchorage is fine for a rest stop, but if I were looking for a place to lay low I go over to Great Kills. There is decent protection there.
Manasquam Strong currents, not sure on slip availability. Last time I tried it my dog made a two pound comment on the cabin sole. Because of the current and the hard scoured bottom I decided to press on to Sandy Hook.
Never tried OC and from what I have heard it isn't a good inlet to run in a sailboat.
Cape May isn't bad, but has shoaled some and of course Breakwater Harbor is doable but you will roll your ass off.
