I've tried them both Steve

After storing the boat both in the water and on land I've come to the conclusion that water is better. Yes, it can sink but their are just too many things that can happen on land that override the negatives of water. If it's longer than 4 months I fly back and spend a week on her and get things 'ship shape' again. Then I fly home and I'm she's good for another 4 months.

At the moment (Brunswick Georgia) I have the boat systems unplugged from shore power. I have a window air conditioner in the companionway door acting as both a dehumidifier and to keep her cool plus a 5 amp trickle charger to keep the batteries topped off. Both the air conditioner and the charger are fed directly from shore power keeping the boat off-line. I also have a 'high water alarm' in the cockpit so anyone walking by can hear it. I also hired someone to look after her and go below once a week to check everything on my list. They also wash her twice a month. They have instructions on how to start the engine and generator If I decide to have them do that.

It sucks leaving your boat. Don't like it at all but from my experience, water is better than on the hard (so far).
