Reminds me of the sailboat I saw trying to cross in front of a ferry in Sydney Harbour
In Response To: Overheard on the VHF today ()

400 ton ferry vs. 1/4 tonner in a race. The sailboat tried to cut in front of the ferry and was becalmed by the wind shadow. The sailboat all but stopped in front of the ferry and was gone in about 15 seconds. The crew on board managed to jump before impact and somehow survived. The right (and might) of way boat one and the sailboat skipper managed to escape a Darwinian experience.
