A friend and I self certified his liferaft last month. I had done it 3 times in the past on my own liferaft and it seemed like the right thing to do for personal accountability.
When we opened it up we discovered that 2 of the packages of emergency water had split opened and the water deteriorated the foam Winslow used throughout the raft for, hell, we don't know why they put it in (perhaps cushioning) or why they used a foam that would deteriorate like it did. It took an hour scraping and cleaning to get it off and cleaned back up. Besides deteriorating the foam, the water destroyed all the batteries along with setting off the moisture lights. What a mess. We cleaned it back up, checked the fabric and put it back together.
Needless to say, we decided to take out all but 3 waters. In thinking back we should have taken them all out.
OK Winslow,, why do you use such crappy foam and why do you put foil water packages in that split with the pressure you put on the raft when you pack it? This is stuff you will never discover if you just send it out.
Looks like a science project.
