Ya know how if NOAA gets the weather wrong...

by a bit and you're in a sailboat how it doesn't matter that much? It does in a trawler.

The NOAA forecast for today was 10 knot winds out of the NE, shifting to the E, seas two to three feet. Hey, we can do that. Just past the Verrazano Bridge things were real nice, but then it turned to east winds at 15 to 20, seas 3 to 5 feet and lumpy being against the tide. I changed five fuel filters before changingh course from Atlantic City to the Atlantic Highlands (behind Sandy Hook) with my tail tucked between my legs.

It's all in the blog, but this pic is one of the results.

When you're in a trawler, pick your days carefully. And I guess the tank cleaning job I spent five and a half boat bucks on wasn't as thorough as I hoped.
