we crewed on a N50 from San Diego to San Francisco and then the return trip. Both times the skipper did not think that dogging hatches was something to think about. Nor did he consider slowing down when taking water over the pilothouse. Only when he(at the helm) was soaked(the hatch leaked badly) did he think about easing back on the throttle. Something about "the schedule." Our bunk forward was soaked because he said the opening ports need not be closed. Water, he said, could never find it's way there. Maybe the Norhavn inspires over confidence or something.
