reading over the posts here it kind of explains what the heck has been going on all around us. Many of the dock neighbors have dinks, as I told everyone in a previous post, they go as a group to the islands at the West end of Lake Erie and anchor out due to the shortage and expense of slips in high season (when the water is not frozen). I have been looking over the selections of both boats(inflatable) and power(small gas OB's) thinking about us rowing our trusty Sevylor. As the summer progressed the gas outboards started to disappear in favor of electric trolling motors. There was testing, endurance runs to check battery capacity, "speed" runs through the basin and so forth. I was talking to one person and the issues were fuel and storage of fuel, maintenance to keep the little OB's running and starting, plus weight. It now appears that rowing and electric power are the methods of choice. In PA at least, a rowing dingy is considered a non-powered vessel and does not need to be registered either, elctric power is still power.
